Cookie Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026. This policy complements the Privacy Policy and explains how Exclusive Sports Portal uses cookies and equivalent technologies on exclusivesportsportal.life, under Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) and the Spanish Data Protection Agency's guidance on cookies.
1. What a cookie or an equivalent is
A cookie is a small file a site can store on the device. The browser's local storage (localStorage) is not a cookie in the strict sense, but the AEPD treats it as an equivalent technology when it is used to remember a preference or identify a device. On this Portal we use localStorage, not third-party advertising or analytics cookies. The fixed notice at the bottom of the screen explains that practice and lets you accept it or close the notice.
2. What this site stores
The Portal writes two keys in localStorage. The first is cookie_consent. The value is “accepted” if you press Accept, or “closed” if you press Close. That key exists only so the notice is not shown again on later visits from the same browser. It does not contain a name, an email, an IP address or a page history. The second is esp_lineup, and it appears only if you build a roster on the board. It stores the identifier of each slot, with no name or email, and it is not sent to our server. It stays in that browser until you clear the site data. Neither key goes to an advertising server. If you clear the site data in your browser, the notice will appear again and the roster disappears, because the Portal does not keep them anywhere else.
The browser may also create technical cookies that belong to the hosting server (for example, an infrastructure session cookie or a load-balancing cookie). Those pieces, if they exist, are necessary to provide the service and are not used to profile fans or to sell space. Exclusive Sports Portal does not install social-network pixels, does not embed players that inject third-party cookies, and does not load fonts or scripts from analytics domains.
3. Legal basis and period
Cookies or equivalents that are strictly necessary to remember a user's choice, such as closing the notice, may be used if their existence is explained, under the AEPD's doctrine on technical cookies. The consent recorded by the Accept and Close buttons documents that you have seen the information. The cookie_consent key remains until you delete it or change browser. There is no automatic server expiry because the data lives on your device.
4. How to disable or delete
You can clear the site's storage from the browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge or another). You can also block third-party cookies in general; on this Portal there should be none. If you block local storage completely, the cookie notice will show on every load because the script will not find the cookie_consent key. That does not stop you reading the pages. Each browser's menu has a privacy section: look for “cookies”, “site data” or “local storage” and remove exclusivesportsportal.life.
5. Updates and contact
If a later phase of the Portal added analytics, embeds or advertising, this policy would be rewritten before those pieces were switched on, and the notice would ask for a specific consent, separate from the technical close. We will not change the kind of technologies by the back door. For cookie questions, write to [email protected] with the subject “Cookies”. If you believe the processing does not meet the LSSI-CE or the GDPR, you can go to the Spanish Data Protection Agency. Using Accept or Close is not a contract to join a newsletter and it is not permission for transfers: it is only a record that the notice was read and hidden.
The banner is built for keyboard and screen readers: the buttons have an explicit label, the focus is visible, and the text includes links to this policy and the privacy policy. If you find an accessibility fault in the notice, say so on the contact form.
6. Accept and Close are not the same in the text, and they are the same in the technical effect
The Accept button stores the value “accepted”. The Close button stores “closed”. In both cases the key is cookie_consent and the notice stops appearing. The difference stays in the value, in case a later version needs to tell an express acceptance from a simple close. Today neither option switches on analytics, advertising or a newsletter. The notice says so on the page itself: there are no advertising or analytics cookies, only local storage. Close is not a refusal of a marketing cookie that does not exist. Accept is not a signup to a mailing list or permission for a future tool. If analytics or advertising are added later, the “accepted” value from this notice will not count as authorisation: a new consent will be required. If you want to see the notice again, clear the site data in the browser: there is no switch on the server because the server does not have your decision.
7. No third-party map
Contact has no map and no OpenStreetMap iframe. We do not publish a postal address. That page does not load a document from another site. The cookie_consent and esp_lineup keys do not depend on a map.
8. What we do not install
There is no social pixel, no advertising tag, no third-party video player, and we do not load the stylesheet from a font domain. Oswald and Source Sans 3 are on this server, as woff2 files. The house JavaScript is main.js and, on the board pages, draft.js. They do not call an audience meter. draft.js writes esp_lineup on the device and does not send it to a server.
9. How to stop remembering the decision
The cookie_consent and esp_lineup keys are deleted with the site data, not with an email to the desk: we do not have them. In the browser settings, the privacy or cookies section lets you delete the data for exclusivesportsportal.life. You can also clear only local storage if your browser separates that list from classic cookies. After that, the next load shows the notice again and the board comes up empty. Blocking all storage does not break reading. It only stops us remembering the close and the roster.
10. Shared computers
If you read the Portal on a work computer, a library computer or a home computer that other people use, the key stays in that browser profile. Anyone using the same profile will not see the notice. Anyone using another profile, or another browser, will. We do not sync the decision between phone and desktop. Signing out of an email account does not affect this key, because it is not tied to an account.
11. No behavioural advertising
There is no cookie that follows a person from an injury page to a sportsbook. We do not segment by favourite team. Links to CBS Sports, TSN, FOX Sports, NFL.com, Football Database or ESPN in the news are ordinary links: you leave the Portal and enter the source's site, which has its own policy. Clicking them does not send us an identifier of what you do there.
12. Cookies the host may set
The server that delivers the pages may use a technical session or load-balancing cookie. If it exists, it exists so the request arrives, not so we know whether you are reading the glossary or the draft. The desk does not use it to produce an audience report. Its lifetime, if the provider sets one, is short and tied to the session or the balancer. We do not sell it and we do not read it to change the text you see.
13. If analytics arrive later
There are none today. If audience measurement, a video embed or advertising is ever added, this page is rewritten before anything is switched on, and the notice will ask for a consent separate from the technical close. We will not reuse the 2026 “accepted” value as permission for a new tool. The date at the top will change on the same day the list of technologies changes.
14. Contact and complaints
Questions about this policy go to [email protected] with the subject “Cookies”. If you believe the notice or the storage does not meet the LSSI-CE or the AEPD guidance, you can go to the Spanish Data Protection Agency. The privacy text explains the controller, the periods and the rights over form messages. This page explains only the browser key and the technical equivalents. The two are read together, and neither is permission to receive advertising.
